I've been at this all night and I still can't get it the way I want. And it's not even my originally intended subject.
I'm fed up, pissed off and going to sulk.
Tomorrow is another day.

A creative challenge I've set myself. Can I take a picture every day that says something about me - my life, my art, my friends. Will I last a year or will I lose interest after the first few weeks? There's only one way to find out.
I had a day off today and went to Newcastle.
The architecture was amazing. I was walking around in a state of deep .... words cannot quite do it justice.
This is St Thomas' which I found absolutely captivating. The sky was a bright, summer blue which made the dark brickwork really stand out.
I promise I'll try and stop photographing churches, but I can't promise I'll be successful.

Today's been my artistic play-date.
I'm doing a course to help with my artistic side and part of it is having a play-date with your inner artistic child. It can be anything you like and doesn't have to involve expensive props. It's just time out to play and explore ideas in a fun and therefore pressure-off environment.
I've had some wooden spoons for a few weeks now and had an idea of making a doll out of them. Anyway yesterday I went to my local haberdashery and bought some cheap and silly bits and pieces and this is what I've spent all day making.
At the moment her name is Dolly but that may change.

This is truly the best of a bad bunch - yep that bad.
It's an experiment I couldn't get right which is really frustrating at the moment. I know what I want but don't seem to be able to achieve it. Grrrr. So the list of things wrong. The focus is appalling. It's hideously grainy and the colour is really wishy-washy.
And the things I like? The fractured colours.
That's it.
I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is another disaster.

This is my latest piece of knitting using very sexy wool I bought in York on Saturday. The wool is variegated so it creates these fantastic changes in colour and has given me some ideas for things I'd like to explore further.
It makes me think of wet, muddy woodlands in the Autumn, but that's just me. I appreciate that it may say completely other things to you.

You may have noticed that I'm a woman of obsession. I'd argue that it's passion and I fully believe that if you're going to do a thing then do it properly. However, I concede that not everyone in the world sees these things the way I do (yet!), so for the sake of argument, I a woman of obsession.
Spirals would be one. Henry Moore might be another, quantum mechanics is a milder third and I guess glass could be considered something I have more than a passing interest in ;)
Yesterday, in York, I was walking past a little jewellery shop when this caught my eye. It was glorious sunny day and the light hit it just right. It made my soul sing. It took all my will power to walk past it - I'm soon to be a poor student after all. The problem was I was completely mesmerised by it. 2 hours later I couldn't get this bracelet out of my head so I went back for it. I decided that 40 quid for Venetian glass was a fair price and I've never seen anything like this before. I also knew if I didn't get it, I'd regret it. It does mean that I'm on bread and water for the rest of the week but at least I'll have something I completely love.

I went for a mooch around York today. It's a gorgeous city and I'd forgotten how much I loved it. I spent hours, sketching, colour drawing and of course taking photo. It's one of those times when you think to yourself "Oh but I can only post one photo a day!". So this was one that I really loved and these are the ones I posted on my other blog! I'm so devious.
I love the light streaming in and the lightness it gives the architecture. It makes the stone almost gleam. Maybe you prefer one of the others.

I'm sorry this isn't a thrilling shot.
I know it's bad but I'm still posting it. Why? Because I'm tired from working with only half the usual staff and I'm still in some discomfort from yesterday's neck spasms. Owwww. So my plan for this evening is junky Chinese food - check, putting on my pyjamas - check, having a glass of wine - check(!) and eating my favourite chocolate while watching trashy DVDs.
Tomorrow I should be better.

Today's word is visitor/business card.
I got to use my favourite method of blagging "Hi I'm an art student currently working on a project about .....". You can get away with murder using that. Well not actual murder. I don't think so anyway. Hmmm may have to give that a try. "I'm sorry M'lud but it's for this art project ...".
