Day 55

Life is very weird sometimes.

I had a tutorial today at college and my course leader and I talked about what I'd been up to over the last few weeks. You may remember I'd been looking at ribbons. Well I started looking at the twists and turns within those ribbons. How they roll in on themselves. My tutor and I sat and talked about it and we started making loops out of bits and pieces - initially paper but then I got my hands on some acetate. Having (finally) acknowledged that my drawing prowess is .. shall we say lacking? ... she suggested I photograph the mini structures. So this is what you see. Some of the fun I had at college. I've now been told to make whole load for next Tuesday. From there I'll look at arrangement, size, material etc. For now I just have to make them out of different material - clay, grasses, pencil shavings ... all suggestions welcome.

So why did this make me smile so much when I came to post this evening? My eye caught Sunday's post and I realised something that hadn't occurred to me before. I'm back to bloody spirals!!! Maybe it's time to admit I am obsessed.

LOL that's funny. The first thing I thought when I saw this was "spirals" because I remembered your post from the other day...

Interesting! I can't wait to see what develops artistically as you embrace your spiral obsession. :)

Tim - The March of the Spirals begins! One day the world will bow down to their majesty!! You will see Mwah ha ha ha (I think I need a lie down)

Laura - When you start to pile them up they do REALLY interesting things. I swear they sectretly breed.

The acetate ones are lovely.

You could do some out of chocolate shavings, like TV chefs do for fancy decorations, and photograph them as they melt and change shape. Or those posh twisty butter spirals my mum used to have a special tool to make them with.

*ugh*...

Thank you sweetie. Chocolate sounds a very good idea. And I'll have to eat some too - just to make sure it's good curling quality ;)
